Funding Rate Comparison

Rates are normalized to an equivalent 8-hour period to make them comparable.

How to read the monitor

A funding difference does not automatically mean an executable opportunity.

1Normalization

We compare all rates in an 8-hour equivalent because contracts may settle every 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours.

2Divergence

The monitor calculates the distance between the highest and lowest funding for the same asset.

3Indicative strategy

A delta-neutral structure typically evaluates Long where funding is lower and Short where it is higher, after fees and basis.

Important: Data comes from public APIs and may be delayed or blocked by CORS. Always verify the rate and next settlement directly on the exchange before trading.

How to compare crypto funding rates

Perpetual futures exchanges can use different funding intervals, so raw percentages are not always directly comparable. FinanceTools normalizes available rates to an equivalent eight-hour period, groups the same asset across venues and highlights the gap between the highest and lowest funding.

A funding divergence is only a signal to investigate. A delta-neutral trade can still lose money because of basis changes, execution fees, slippage, liquidity, transfer constraints and changes in the next funding rate.

Frequently asked questions

What is a crypto funding rate?

Funding is a periodic payment mechanism used by perpetual futures markets to help keep contract prices close to spot prices.

Does positive funding always mean shorts receive?

Often, but settlement rules are exchange-specific. Always verify the sign convention and next funding event on the venue before trading.

Is the largest funding gap automatically an arbitrage?

No. You still need to consider basis, trading costs, liquidity, margin requirements and whether both legs can be opened and maintained safely.
